L: Exploration

Rebecca left her quarters today with a mission. Now that the Executor was to be her new 'home', she needed to learn how to get around the massive ship. In her hands she held her data pad so she could map her route as she went along with the plan of studying it when she finally returned to her quarters. Rebecca made her way down the corridor to the turbo lift and stepped inside once the doors whooshed open. She stared at the control panel just beside the doors for a moment, wondering where she should begin her tour. Obviously the command bridge was at the very top of the ship. Perhaps she should start her trek from the bottom and work her way back to the top. After a deep breath, she selected the lower deck and waited excitedly as the lift lowered her through the immense Super Star Destroyer.

She heard a chime as the lift came to a halt. The doors opened and the view before her was not one she was expecting. The standard "imperial grey" bulkheads that cover the other corridors several decks above were absent. The lighting was far darker than she anticipated. The woman felt a chill run down her spine as she stepped off the lift. The doors closed behind her and the lift traveled back up the shaft, leaving her behind. There was no turning back now, Rebecca started forward down the corridor.

Rebecca's heeled footsteps echoed throughout the corridor as she walked. The area was quiet. Eerily quiet.

"Hello?" She called out, in an attempt to reach someone...anyone. Her voice echoed several times until it faded out completely. She felt so alone. The corridor didn't help any. It seemed to wind itself around with several connecting branches that she felt like a mouse droid in a maze.

Suddenly, she heard a scream in the distance and it stopped her in her tracks. Who was that?? So there is someone down here...and from the sounds of it....they need help! She hurried in what she believed the direction of the noise until it dawned on her....this could be the detention area...and that screaming could be a prisoner. A rebel perhaps...or worse. She started backwards the way she came, or so she thought. Looking down at the map her data pad had fashioned for her, she found herself traveling in circles. Well kark... She was studying her map so intently she didn't realize someone was coming up behind her until she turned around and ran right into someone.

"Oh, I'm sorry...I...didn't.." she paled as it became all too clear who she rammed into... a seven foot tall Sith lord.

"Why am I always finding you where you do not belong?" Vader asked, putting his hands on his hips.

"I'm sorry..." She said, avoiding looking at his mask. "I was trying to learn my way since this is to be my home and...lost my way."

"You have ventured into the detention center of my vessel. You should not tour this area unsupervised." He replied.

"I'm sorry."

"It is no matter. Come, my lady. I see I must take it upon myself to show you the vessel properly."

She shook her head slightly. " My lord, I-I don't wish to take up your time. I'm sure you have much more important engagements to attend to..."

"I assure you, it is no imposition." He added, "I would be offended should you refuse."

She blinked twice, not expecting such a response from the dark lord of the Sith. "Very well..." She was cut off by another scream in the distance, that made her jump. "I would very much like to leave this area."

"I thought as much. This is where prisoners of war are held and interrogated. Hardly a place for one as delicate as yourself, Milady." He watched her unsettling expression before continuing, "We are in galactic conflict. It is impossible to live on a warship and shelter yourself from the reality of the situation."

"I understand..." she sighed as Vader led her through the corridors to the turbo-lift she so desperately sought. Once inside he commanded the lift to take them to an upper deck of the star destroyer. Once the doors slid open again, Vader gestured for her to step off first. "Where is this?" She looked around the room. Much of the hull was cut out to view ports. Along the walls of the room there were various chairs and benches to sit down.

Lord Vader moved to one of the large view ports and clasped his hands behind his back. Absently, hes said, "A place where one can watch the stars."

"Oh?" She approached and stood beside him, looking out into space with interest.

"I come here quite often, when I wish to clear my mind."

"This must be a peaceful place then."

"There is little peace in my life." He said, staring out into the vastness of space. "May your path be different than mine."

She couldn't help but feel sorry for him, and so she placed her hand gently on his arm out of mere instinct, then realizing what she was doing, retracted it a few seconds later. "I'm sure there's something out there that pleases you. Perhaps it only need to be found." She paused and took a few steps away. "I'm sorry, my lord. I didn't mean to be presumptuous. Forgive me.."

He merely stood there in silence and shock that you touched him. "Power is what pleases me now," he replied, shaking his head, "you need not apologize."

She was about to reply when a junior officer entered the observation deck and made a slight bow,
"My lord Vader, pardon the interruption, but the Emperor is demanding you make contact." He announced. The fear in his voice was evident. Rebecca glanced at the young man and then turned to Vader.

The Sith lord half turned to the officer, "very well." He then turned to Rebecca. "I will return to finish our rounds. This area is open to you to use as you see fit. I trust you will find it far more appealing than my detention." With a flourish of his cape, he turned and stalked off to his private chamber to make the call to his master, leaving her alone to her thoughts once again.
